LPG, the savings really add up!
On a recent test drive a Ford Territory petrol and Ford Territory LPG fitted with SGI was driven on a 400km test loop that took in some city crawl as well as some country and highway driving. 40 per cent was city driving, the rest out of town.
On the loop the territory consumed an average of 12.4L/100km on petrol and 13.6L/100km on LPG. with current fuel pricing of $1.27 for ULP and $0.48c/L for LPG. The trip cost $63 on petrol vs $26.08 for LPG, a saving of $36.92.
For the average motorist traveling just 18,000km a year the saving would be $1661.4 pa once the initial installation cost was recouped, this of course is helped by the federal governments recent announcement of a $2000 subsidy to convert your vehicle to LPG.
